John O’Groats to Lands End and 3 Peaks Challenge
30 June 2012 to 15 July 2012
Two friends and I are currently planning to cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End including hiking Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon on route. I am doing this in aid of the The Epilepsy Society.
The normal John O’Groats to Lands End route is roughly 900miles long and is completed over a period of 3 weeks. We have only 15 days to complete this challenge and are adding an additional 200miles of cycling to the route in order to travel to and climb each of the UK’s 3 tallest peaks.
The 15 days comprise of:
1. 11 days cycling (100miles a day)
2. 3 days Climbing (ascending over 3,400metres)
3. 1 day contingency (for punctures, broken bikes and tired minds)
The Epilepsy Society:
My Brother has suffered Epilepsy since the age of 2. Now 23, he is starting to get what most people would consider a normal life. Although the Epilepsy is still there and the seizures continue, it is the periods in between that he now lives a normal life. This is due to continued medical assessments and regular reviews by the Epilepsy Society including long stays in hospital for observations and treatment tests to try and work out medications that are best for him. He now lives in supporting living which allows him to be independent but at the same time provides support and care 24/7 when required.
